Privacy Policy
Image Alt Fix ("the App") is a Shopify app operated by Wbify ("we", "us"). It helps merchants find and fix missing, short and duplicate ALT text on their product images. This policy explains what information the App accesses when a merchant installs it, how we use that information, and how it is deleted.
Information the App accesses
When you install the App, Shopify grants it the following permissions, which you approve during installation:
- Read products, to list your products and their images.
- Write files, to save the ALT text you enter on your product images.
Using those permissions, the App handles the following information:

Information the App does not collect
- The App does not access, collect or store any information about your customers, such as names, emails, addresses or orders.
- The App does not store personal information about you or your staff. Shopify's session tokens identify the signed-in staff member to the App, but the App does not keep that identity.
- The App does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and does not sell or share data with third parties for marketing.
How we use information
We use the information above only to provide the App's features: showing your product images, flagging ALT text issues and saving the ALT text you choose back to your Shopify store. The App changes a product image's ALT text only when you edit it or run a bulk action.
Information stored in your browser
If you dismiss an announcement on the App's dashboard, your browser remembers which announcement you dismissed, using local storage. This contains no personal information, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Sharing and service providers
We do not sell or rent your information. Information is shared only with Shopify, through its APIs, and with the hosting provider that runs the App's servers, which processes it only to operate the App. We may disclose information if required by law.
Security
All communication between your browser, the App and Shopify is encrypted with HTTPS. The App verifies Shopify's signature on every request and webhook, and access tokens are kept on our servers and never sent to your browser.
Retention and deletion
- When you uninstall the App, Shopify notifies us and we delete your store's access token and any cached data immediately.
- Shopify also sends a data deletion request 48 hours after uninstall. We handle it by confirming that nothing about your store remains.
- Because the App stores no customer data, customer data requests and customer deletion requests from Shopify have nothing to return or erase.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to how it is processed, for example under the GDPR or CCPA. To make a request, contact us at the address below. Uninstalling the App deletes the store data it holds.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App changes. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify merchants in the App.
